Marc Flood has yet another the podium finish at Coupe du Quebec, Quebec’s major annual event.

Marc was back to his competitive ways at the annual feature weekend known as the Coupe du Québec. This event features all the best drivers from Quebec and even some from Ontario.

From the beginning of the weekend Marc was one of the pacesetters and continued to be in dominant form right though qualifying where he clinched second place on the grid next to Ontario’s excellent Tom Cadieux and who is a former teammate of Marc’s in the U.S Stars of Karting series. The race was run in two heats and in the prefinal Marc held position and finished in a safe second place behind Cadieux. It should be mentioned that the race was red flagged at the 75% distance due to a severe crash involving one of the other competitors. The ambulance had to be dispatched but, since the driver had suffered no more than a few lacerations, was pronounced fit enough to even partake in the final in his spare chassis.

The final heat was fraught with tension as there had been discussion that both Marc and Cadieux were on the “hit list” of one of the drivers on the following row of the grid and that they would be “taken out” at the first corner immediately after the standing start. Marc, therefore, in the interest of preserving his machinery decided to play it safe and not get embroiled in any of this unsportsmanlike behaviour. Also, the fact that Marc had not run the full season meant that he wasn’t in the overall championship running and this, in particular, made his decision easy. Marc just shadowed the two drivers ahead of him knowing that a podium was “in the bag” while the two ahead played a game of Russian roulette with each other. All it would take is for one or both to crash and a second place or victory would be there for the taking. As it turned out Tom Cadieux was able to preserve his lead and win the race.

Given the extremely competitive field, a second place grid position, a second and a third place in the races made for a satisfactory outcome to the weekend.

The season is now already almost over and there remains just one kart event and another 2 day test session in the Porsche GT2.

The balance of the calendar is as follows for karting events:

-Sept 21-22: Mont St. Hilaire (Coupe de Montréal)

The following dates are currently confirmed for the Porsche GT 2:

-Sept 10-11: Le Circuit, Mont-Tremblant, Québec.

As ever Marc continues to be supported by his ever loyal sponsors throughout the 2007 season.
